About Meghan

Meghan Moloney is a Canadian writer and communications professional currently residing in Peterborough, Ontario and available for freelance assignments.

She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph, with a major in English Literature and a minor in Anthropology. During her undergraduate studies, Meghan contributed to the Guelph student newspaper The Ontarion, further developing a keen interest in the real-world applications of her studies in culture, politics, and social justice issues. Meghan went on to complete a Master of Arts in Journalism at the University of Western Ontario, focusing on print journalism.

Meghan has over six years of experience in writing-focused positions in several fields, including international development, health-care fundraising, and education. Beginning as Communications Coordinator at Right To Play's international headquarters in Toronto, she built extensive skills and experience in corporate communications, marketing, web management, social media and media relations. Meghan moved on to become the Manager of Marketing and Communications at North York General Hospital Foundation, overseeing a diverse range of projects including annual reports, newsletters, two new websites, a re-brand, special event marketing, and communications around the launch of a $150 million fundraising campaign. After moving to Peterborough with her husband to be closer to family, Meghan most recently worked as Media Relations and Strategic Communications Officer for Trent University, providing key assistance during the institution's 50th anniversary celebrations.

In addition to reading fiction, engaging in social media is one of Meghan's top pastimes. An early adopter of several social media platforms both personally and professionally, she has been exploring online identities and digital portfolios for more than 10 years. This blog was originally created in the fall of 2007 while Meghan was in graduate school, to share published pieces and journalism assignments, but the site has evolved several times over the years to reflect changing interests and career focus, and the constantly-shifting nature of self-expression via the web.
